DC Universe Classics - Wave 9 and 2 Pack Previews

As I await the arrival of my DCUC Wave 7 action figures to review, and also the arrival of Wave 8 (which have already started popping up on eBay now), I figured this would be a good time to preview DCUC Wave 9 as well as some of the upcoming 2 packs.

Starting with the 2 packs, probably the one I'm looking most forward to is the Brainiac & Superman pack, simply because I want Brainiac. The figure is crafted after Brainiac's first appearance in the Superman comics and also similar to Brainiac from the old Superfriends cartoon from the 70s. The Superman figure comes with glowing red eyes. I believe this is the same head sculpt used on Eradicator from Wave 5 and in all likelyhood the same body sculpt from the Superman variant in Wave 6.
The next 2 pack is of Clayface and Batman. Clayface looks to be a re-release from the DCSH wave 8 and the Batman appears to be a repainted version of the sculpt from DCUC wave 1 Batman.

The other 2 packs coming soon are re-releases of Lex Luthor and Supergirl from the DC Superheroes action figure series and also a Hawkman and Hawkgirl pack.
You can pre-order on line on Mattycollector.com an exclusive Alexander Luthor and Ultraman two pack
Now, on to Mattel's DC Universe Classics Wave 9.
First up, Mantis who has a variant who as some cool looking costumes.
Next is Wildcat, which looks like your standard DCUC figure as far as body parts go. Of course he has his own unique head sculp, plus your not so standard hands sculpt as well. The rest looks like reused parts.
Same case with the next figure, Guardian. As far as the sculpt goes, he appears to also have your standard body parts with a ho-hum costume but a unique head sculpt.
Next up is the Deadshot who has a unique enough looking costume to forgive the re-use of body parts. Personally, I've been waiting for this guy but I'm a little disappointed as it looks like both fists are closed which means no extra accessories.
This is the third set in a row that includes at least one female character and for wave 9 Mattel is giving us Black Canary. I'm going to guess that the body parts used on this figure will be similar to Series 2 Harley Quinn
Next up is Black Adam, a fairly standard looking DCUC action figure with no accessories.
Finally, who appears to be the lead character of Wave 9, Green Arrow rounds out the seven action figures from this set. This figure looks to be pretty good from the publicity photo and thankfully comes with a few extra accessories.
And if you're lucky enough to purchase all seven action figures from DCUC wave 9 you will get to put together CHEMO

Well, thats it for my 2 pack and DCUC wave 9 preview. Hopefully my Wave 7 will arrive soon so I can start back up on my reviews. Be sure to come back to Action Toy Review for more info, news and review on Mattel's DC Universe Classics action figures.

WORLD DOMINION BEGINS!

Greetings!

Most recently RAMPAGE TOYS has been focusing on taking over the world. So, with that goal in mind, I've had to come up with some clever subterfuge-esque methods (don't want the man catching on).

First stop: AMSTERDAM. And what better time to start than May Day - that pivotal moment in central europeans' year when they decide everything sucks and they need to smash stuff. PERFECT!

My method: Stickers of course. Check out the pictures for RAMPAGE TOYS' international debut in the form of the (soon to be) iconic RAMPAGE mascot on a schmancy homemade sticker. Yup.

Soon to Come: Stuttgart, Germany (home of Porsche and the Scwaebisch tongue), and, of course Paris, France and London, England (homes of, well, lots and lots of things...). Check back for World Dominion (i.e. sticker) updates!

Contact me at Rampage.Toys@yahoo.com if you want stickers. They're biodegradable and really pretty, and like all current RAMPAGE art - individually handmade.

Day 104: Megatron

Megatron is the founder of the Decepticon uprising, and their most well-known and feared leader. As a young, charismatic leader forged in battle and the heritage of war, he began to believe in a grand purpose for his race—it is the Transformers' glorious destiny to rule an empire which will span the universe. The opposite of his mortal enemy Optimus Prime, he feels great contempt for other Transformers who, he feels, betray their proud heritage by demanding peace and cooperation with weaker life forms.

DC Universe Classics - Kalibak

Okay, its been a while since I last posted. Sorry to all yourso I've decided its finally time to finish off my review of the 6th wave of Mattel's DC Universe Classics action figures. The final figure to be reviewed for this series is the collect and connect figure Kalibak.

Kalibak is big, but not as big as some recent collect and connect figures. He stands about 7.25 inches tall. Basically as tall as DCSH Darkseid, but much thicker.

The sculpt itself is pretty good. Plenty of detail in the face and his costume.

As far as paint goes, its good but not stellar. There are a lot of small areas on my figure where the paint bleeds a little. One area is around the mount where Kalibak's skin color bleeds on to his teeth. There are a few other similar spots here in there but for the most part, its a very good job.

Some C&C figures don't come with accessories but Kalibak does come with a giant mace. It only fits in one of his hands as the other is a closed fist however, there is a spot on his costume where the mace can click on to if you don't want him holding it.

Kalibak's articulation is generally the same as most DCUC action figures. Joints include the neck, shoulders, biceps, elbows, forearms, abdominal, waist, hips, thighs, knees and ankles.

Overall, Kalibak is what we've come to expect from this toy line. No surprises here, generally a good action figure which will fit well with the rest of your DC Universe Classics collection.

Sculpt - 9, Paint, 7.5, Accessories, 7, Articulation - 9, Fun - 9
Overall score : 8.5/10

If you want to buy DCUC Kalibak but don't want the other action figures from wave 6, then the best thing for you to do is check out ebay. You may find him in the 30-50 range on his own. Otherwise, spend the 70-80 bucks plus shipping and buy the complete set.

Wave 7 is out now and wave 8 is not too far behind. Hopefully I'll be able to get to more posts shortly.

Day 103: Sluggo Smith

Sluggo Smith is a comic strip character from the Nancy comic strip. Sluggo is Nancy's best friend. He is Nancy's age and is a poor ragamuffin-type from the wrong side of the tracks. There are strips that appear to place Sluggo as Nancy's boyfriend. He is portrayed as lazy, and his favorite pastime seems to be napping.
